Design flow rate: 4.000 Kg/h raw LPG (92,5% purity)
Feed Product: Raw LPG
Final Product: 3.600 Kg/h of Aerosol LPG (99,5% purity); 1.500 Kg/h of pure LPG (99,99% purity)
Columns: 2 columns continuous distillation plant
The LPG distillation plant was developed to meet GTS’s need to produce refrigerant and aerosol gases starting from LPG used for automotive fuel and combustion applications. However, the client's site, classified as a Seveso-regulated facility and effectively operating as an LPG storage depot, did not allow the installation of distillation systems equipped with traditional boilers as a heat source. The challenge was therefore to design a system capable of separating and purifying raw LPG components to produce high-purity aerosol and refrigerant gases without using any combustion-based heat source.
We have developed and engineered a plant solution unique in Europe, entirely free of heating systems powered by natural gas boilers. The distillation unit operates exclusively using electric energy and employs an industrial heat pump system composed of two open-drive screw refrigeration compressors, enabling simultaneous evaporation and condensation processes within the two distillation columns. With a feed capacity of 3,600 kg/h of raw LPG and an innovative design, the plant is capable of producing refrigerant gases with purity levels exceeding 99.5% and process yields above 90%, while ensuring operational safety, energy efficiency, and full regulatory compliance.
