Double Effect Concentration plant with EPC Technology
Design flow rate: 5.000 Kg/h
Feed product: FeCl3 23% conc.
Final product: FeCl3 40% conc.
The 25% aqueous ferric chloride (FeCl₃) solution needs to be concentrated up to 40% for its final use. However, the process presents several challenges, including strict temperature control to prevent FeCl₃ degradation, the high energy consumption required for water evaporation, the complex maintenance associated with traditional forced-circulation systems, and the need to ensure continuous and safe plant operation.
The plant is a turnkey double-effect countercurrent concentrator equipped with a vapor thermocompressor. The FeCl₃ solution is preheated and sent to the first flash vessel, where part of the water is evaporated and condensed. The partially concentrated solution then flows to the second flash stage, where it reaches the final concentration of 40% and is subsequently cooled before storage. The entire system operates under vacuum in double effect (pressure swing) to control temperature and reduce the risk of product degradation. The design of the horizontal flash vessels and heat exchangers minimizes maintenance requirements and energy consumption.Feed flow and flash vessel levels are automatically controlled to ensure process safety and operational continuity.
